Human Resource Certification Preparation

An HR specialist focuses on the fundamental aspects of human resources, performing specialized tasks essential to the HR function. These professionals are responsible for recruiting, screening, and interviewing job applicants, as well as placing newly hired workers in appropriate positions.

A typical day for an HR specialist includes:

  • Updating employee records related to hiring, transfers, promotions, and terminations.
  • Explaining policies and procedures to new hires.
  • Ensuring the completion of new hire paperwork.
  • Addressing work-related complaints.
  • Informing applicants about job duties, benefits, work hours, etc.
  • Coordinating job postings.
  • Reviewing resumes.
  • Conducting background and reference checks.
  • Additional duties may vary based on the organization's size and the specialist's area of focus.

Career Advancement

HR specialists have significant opportunities for career growth. They can choose to specialize in specific areas such as recruitment and hiring or benefits. Alternatively, they can broaden their skill set and HR experience to progress into roles such as HR generalist, HR manager, or HR director. Additional education, certifications, and on-the-job experience can facilitate this career advancement.

Job Outlook

Human resources professionals are currently in high demand. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for HR specialists is projected to grow by 8 percent through 2031, which is faster than the average for all occupations. The need for HR professionals will continue to rise as companies navigate increasingly complex employment laws and health coverage requirements. Lightcast reports that the average salary for an HR specialist is $62,296 per year.

Certification

Obtaining certification demonstrates dedication to career advancement. Certified Human Resources Professionals are viewed as motivated and knowledgeable, providing them with a competitive edge in the field. Our program will equip you with the skills needed to secure an entry-level position in human resources and prepare you for the aPHR (Associate Professional in Human Resources), PHR (Professional in Human Resources), or SHRM-CP (Society for Human Resource Management's Certified Professional) certification exams.
